about ayo

'ayo' Kysha Brown is an ICF Certified Executive Coach, creator of The Leadership Compass™, and founder of Compositions. A member of the Forbes Coaches Council, she partners with mission-driven leaders across nonprofit, philanthropic, and entrepreneurial contexts who are navigating the tension between sustaining impact and sustaining themselves.

With 15+ years in leadership development, executive coaching, and systems change, Kysha brings a distinctive approach to sustainable performance (one grounded in the recognition that how we lead at small scale is how we create change at large scale). Her work integrates stakeholder feedback, CliftonStrengths, and values-based development to explore the four domains of leadership infrastructure: strategic clarity, performance architecture, generative contribution, and enduring influence.

As a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), Kysha brings deep understanding of the unique pressures facing foundation leaders, nonprofit executives, and philanthropic innovators. Her framework also serves social entrepreneurs, mission-driven business owners, and coaches and consultants building sustainable practices.

Beyond coaching, Kysha is a broadly anthologized poet, author of the collection Spherical Woman, and co-editor of the anthology Fertile Ground: Memories & Visions (Runagate Press). In her love of the arts, she collects handmade dolls, paintings and sculpture, honoring beauty as inspiration.

KYSHA'S CREDO

When you work with me, you're working with someone who operates from a set of guiding principles I call my Culture Credo. This is the context I bring to every partnership.

I believe our greatest success lives in the synergy of collective contribution. I aim to be supportive and honoring, and I hold space where we can all be supported and honored. I cultivate an environment of joy alongside the serious work we tackle together, what I think of as Having Fun & Getting It Done.

I believe in bringing harmony to the whole experience. Many of us work long or irregular hours as a means of bringing coherence to our lives and our life's work. When we can't bring balance to the home-office equation, we can still bring harmony to our overall experience. For me, beauty is integral to that harmony. Whether it's a pretty pen, my optical frames, or some small something, you'll find me with an implement of aesthetic inspiration.

I believe we are the ones with the courage and heart to take on the challenges of our time. For this, I bring my whole self, and I invite you to do the same.

I also believe that my purpose as a coach is not what I do in our sessions—it's what happens in you when we work together. The clarity you gain, the practices you build, the influence you create beyond our partnership. That's the work that matters.

If these principles align with yours, let's talk about how we might work together.
